APW - Seth Thomas, "Letzring & Sherbinin Watchmakers Langham, Sask." marked mvt and dial, 25J, 18S, gold-filled OF Canadian made recase with attractive engine turning and engraving detail, white enamel DS impressed dial with Canadian market 13 to 24 hour numerals, all hour numerals in radial orientation, fancy gilt Louis XV style hands, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, capped third and fourth wheels, ornate two-tone gilt and nickel damascene, s#350428. A rare top grade private label, this example is from a production run containing 25 jewel "Maiden Lane" signed movements and appears equivalent to the Maiden Lane in finish and quality. Total production of the 25 jewel Seth Thomas is believed to be approximately 720 made per the excellent info of Eric Unselt's www.seththomasresearch.com website, and of this number only a very small fraction were produced with private label movement signature. CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent two-tone color, some oxide to regulator assembly and screw heads, regulator spring with fine scratch striations from sanding; dial with scattered hls including a cluster radiating outward from above upper-right of seconds-register, mild lightening of signature marking, few areas of edge rub under bezel, some tiny edge nicks under bezel; fine hands, hour hand of somewhat duller gilt tone than minute, seconds-hand with oxide and finish loss; case shows light to medium wear, a group of dings to band at 4, slight shallow compression type denting of center rear, reduced engine turning and engraving detail, wear to brass to very high majority of band surface, spots of wear to brass to pendant; tight bow, crown shows medium wear with small ridge break; clean plastic crystal.
